Sørensen to race for GMB at Le Mans

GMB Motorsport has announced their full line-up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2023.

Aston Martin works driver Marco Sørensen will help out Gustav Birch and Jens Møller for the team’s debut at the French classic

Last week we had the announcement that Nicki Thiim would join Birch and Møller for the European Le Mans Series rounds. Sørensen has a programme in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and the team hoped for an entry for the 24 hours race. They were however announced as only the tenth reserve, so that makes the Dane available for the race.

Thiim on the other hand is active for Northwest AMR #98, for which he races the full FIA World Endurance Championship season, which Le Mans is a part of, so he will be busy at the event too.

Sørensen is triple Champion in the FIA WEC, where two of the titles were won with Thiim at Aston Martin in the GTE Pro category. Sørensen also won the 2022 title in GTE Am with TF Sport, beating his fellow countryman. On top of that, he is the defending winning of the 24 hours race. So that makes it 1-1, since Thiim won the race back in 2014 in GTE Am alongside David Heinemeier Hansson and Kristian Poulsen.

GMB Motorsport has already tested their new Aston Martin in GTE spec, ahead of the ELMS race debut on 23 April 2023 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
